Frequently Asked Questions

Our most frequently asked questions and answers

We are a labor-only moving company but we are happy to recommend affordable trucks near you!

When you book your move, we take an inventory of the amount and size of your items. Based on your personalized inventory we will indicate the measurements needed for the truck. Your UniMovers will ensure to pack your items to fit safely and neatly.

UniMovers is a labor-only moving company. We strive to be the best, affordable movers near you. With labor-only moving services people save an estimated 30-50% of what they would pay for a full service moving company.

Typically, we supply lifting straps, ratchet straps, and tools to assemble and disassemble beds and other miscellaneous furniture upon request. To ensure we bring the tools and equipment needed, we ask that you make a note for any bulky items and any items that may require assembly in your inventory list. We do not provide moving blankets or a dolly. These items may be rented through your local moving truck rental company.

Not all locations are the same, some may have more or less equipment than stated here. We recommend reaching out to your local UniMovers location for more information.

After you submit a booking request, we will reach out to confirm everything with you. If your request seems off from what we expect, we might recommend getting more movers or for a longer amount of time. If your move takes longer than expected, we try our best to work around our schedule to finish your move. In these cases, it’s important to keep in mind, that we charge hourly.

In the simplest terms, a labor-only moving company does not provide trucks. Labor-only moving companies are becoming the new trend because they allow owners to open their company with little start-up cost and few licenses enabling them to have more competitive rates compared to their full-service adversaries. A recent study by MovingLabor.com found that labor-only moving services people save an estimated 30-50% of what they would pay for a full-service moving company.

Our movers are paid by the hour, but tips are always welcome based on how satisfied you are with our services. On average, customers tip 17.5% and movers keep 100% of the tips they earn! If you’d like to learn more, we recommend you check out this guide on tipping movers!

We do not charge a cancellation fee but if you need to cancel, please let us know 48 hours before the time of your scheduled move. Please note that last minute cancelations keep us from running our business and helping other people move.
